Our Mission:

Our Mission is to promote humane communities in the central Virginia region by increasing knowledge and awareness about: responsible animal guardianship, effective animal management practices, and the connections between responsible, humane animal management and healthy communities.

Vision and beliefs:

We believe the well-being of all individuals, human and animal, is interdependent; and that a compassionate level of well-being is an indication of the health and successful development of a community.

We believe that education and assistance regarding compassionate animal management is essential to promoting community health and wellbeing. 

We envision a Community in which the practice of compassionate and proper care of its animals eliminates the threat of disease or injury from those animals; and that such practices minimize the emotional burden and financial costs to the community of collecting and managing unwanted animals.

We encourage and invite collaboration among human and animal interest organizations and seek partnerships to support a multi-faceted approach to advance the well-being of people and animals.
